Light Therapy Education

Learn the Science. Build your Knowledge. Advance your Practice.

Light therapy is more than using a device. Understanding the science, the body, and the principles behind application can help you approach light therapy with greater knowledge, confidence, & purpose.

Structured education for those ready to understand light therapy—not simply use it.

CLT + CLTS Bundle

Information Is Everywhere. Understanding Is Different.

You can find an enormous amount of information about photobiomodulation online. But information alone doesn't necessarily teach you how to think about light therapy.

It doesn't necessarily teach you:

  • How light interacts with biological systems
  • How to think through application
  • Why placement matter
  • Show the body's systems influence one another
  • How to approach light therapy responsibly
  • How to develop a consistent framework for application

Having a light therapy device is one thing. Understanding how to use it thoughtfully is another. That's where education makes the difference.

Why Become Certified?

Move Beyond Information. Build Knowledge You Can Apply.

You can learn about light therapy from countless online sources. But professional education gives you something more: a structured foundation, practical experience, and a framework for thinking about application.

Certification represents a commitment to learning—not simply owning a device or completing a course
.

Build Knowledge

Develop a structured understanding of light therapy rather than piecing information together from scattered sources.

Build Confidence

Understand the principles behind light therapy so you can make more informed decisions about application.

Develop Professional Credibility

What Makes the CLTS Different?

The CLTS Isn't Simply More Information.

The Certified Light Therapy Specialist program takes the foundation you developed through the CLT and moves you into a deeper level of understanding and application.

The focus shifts from learning about light therapy to developing a framework for thinking through a light therapy session.

You'll explore the practitioner, the body, nervous system regulation, body mapping, light as information, and how these concepts can influence the way you approach application.

This is where knowledge begins to become practice.

Practitioner Role & Clinical Presence

The Certified Light Therapy Specialist program takes the foundation you developed through the CLT and moves you into a deeper level of understanding and application.

The focus shifts from learning about light therapy to developing a framework for thinking through a light therapy session.

You'll explore the practitioner, the body, nervous system regulation, body mapping, light as information, and how these concepts can influence the way you approach application.

This is where knowledge begins to become practice.

Foundations of Regulation

Learn to recognize sympathetic and parasympathetic states and identify physical and behavioral signs that may indicate dysregulation.

You'll explore the relationship between the nervous system and lymphatic system and why a regulation-first approach can be an important consideration when developing a light therapy session.

Mapping the Body

Explore how the brain maps the body and examine relationships between the spine, organ systems, dermatomes, and neural pathways.

You'll also learn about major vagal and parasympathetic access points and how body mapping can inform your thinking when considering light therapy application.

Light as Information

Go beyond the idea of light as simply illumination and explore light as a signaling mechanism.

You'll examine frequency, pulse rate, duty cycle, Nogier and Solfeggio frequencies, and the concept of biophotons as you develop a broader understanding of light as information.

Light Remedies & Application

Begin developing a system-focused approach to light therapy rather than relying solely on symptom-focused thinking.

You'll explore why placement matters, how regulation and coordination may influence your approach, how to develop a session flow based on a client's presentation, and how to create safe applications using the InLight Therapy System.

The goal is not simply to follow a protocol. It's to develop the ability to think through an application.

Practice Integration & Professional Standards

Explore what it means to integrate light therapy responsibly into professional practice.

You'll learn about protecting both the client and practitioner, the role of the CLTS, compliant non-diagnostic language, professional boundaries, collaboration, and referral networks.
CLTS isn't about memorizing more protocols. It's about developing a deeper understanding of the practitioner, the body, and the principles that influence how you approach light therapy.

CLT gives you the foundation.
CLTS develops your ability to think through application.

A Strong Foundation Matters

BANHS requires college-level Anatomy & Physiology credit for the CLTS.

Don't have an Anatomy & Physiology foundation yet?Carnegie Mellon University Open Learning Initiative Anatomy & Physiology I & II course.

The course is open and free for independent learners.

Your CLT education gave you a foundation in the science and principles of light therapy.

CLTS takes that knowledge further.

The Certified Light Therapy Specialist program moves beyond foundational concepts and into a deeper exploration of the practitioner, the body, regulation, mapping, light as information, and the thoughtful development of a light therapy session.

You'll begin connecting what you know about light therapy with how you think about application.

In CLTS, You'll Explore:

Regulation & Nervous System Considerations

Develop a deeper understanding of sympathetic and parasympathetic states and how regulation may influence your approach to a session.

Mapping the Body

Explore relationships between the brain, spine, organ systems, dermatomes, neural pathways, and major vagal and parasympathetic access points.

Application Strategy

Move beyond simply following protocols and develop a framework for thinking through placement, sequence, and session development.

Meet Your Instructor

Diana Connolly
Founder of Complete Health Initiative | Certified Light Therapy Instructor

Light therapy became more than a modality for Diana—it became a field of study.

After being introduced to photobiomodulation and experiencing its application firsthand, Diana began exploring the science, principles, and possibilities of light therapy in greater depth. Over the years, her work has included both human and animal applications, giving her a broad perspective on how light therapy can be approached across different settings.

That experience led to the creation of Complete Health Initiative and, ultimately, to the development of CHI's educational programs.

Why Education?

Diana believes that owning a light therapy device is only the beginning.

There is an enormous amount of information available about photobiomodulation, but finding information is not the same as understanding it. Her goal in creating CHI education is to help students build that understanding—to learn the principles behind light therapy, develop a framework for thinking through application, and become more confident in making informed decisions within their appropriate scope of practice.

How Diana Teaches

CHI education is built around a simple philosophy:

Knowledge Builds Confidence.

Rather than teaching students to simply memorize protocols, Diana encourages them to understand the principles behind what they are doing.

  • Learn the principles.
  • Understand the body.
  • Develop your reasoning.
  • Apply responsibly.

The goal is not simply to teach you what to do, but to help you develop a deeper understanding of why you are doing it.

A Commitment to Continued Learning

Light therapy continues to evolve, and so does the education surrounding it.

Diana's commitment is to continue developing educational resources that help practitioners expand their knowledge, think critically about application, and continue growing within the field of light therapy.

Welcome to CHI Education.

The CHI Approach

Knowledge Builds Confidence.

At Complete Health Initiative, we believe education should do more than give you information. It should help you understand what you're learning well enough to think about how it applies.

Our approach is built around four principles:

Learn the Principles

Understand the foundational science and concepts behind light therapy rather than simply memorizing protocols.

Understand the Body

Develop a stronger understanding of the body's systems and how they relate to the way you think about light therapy application.

Develop Your Reasoning

Learn to connect what you're observing with what you know, so you can approach each session with greater understanding and intention.

Apply Responsibly

Use your knowledge thoughtfully, ethically, and within your appropriate professional scope.
Education That Builds Understanding. CHI education is designed to help you move from information → understanding → application.

Because the more you understand, the more confidently and responsibly you can apply what you've learned.

Knowledge Builds Confidence.
